Two of our standout drum students, Camden and Aiden, have been putting in serious work—and it shows. Both recently recorded new performances in the studio during their drum lessons with Josh Kastleman, and each brought a totally different style to the drum kit. Whether you're into early 2000s pop-punk or heavy-hitting alternative metal, these students are proving that drum lessons in Tooele County are anything but ordinary.
Camden Plays “I’m Just a Kid” by Simple Plan
Camden took on the punchy, youthful energy of “I’m Just a Kid” by Simple Plan, and totally nailed the feel of this pop-punk classic. Known for its catchy hooks and relatable lyrics, this 2002 hit became the anthem for a generation of teens navigating life’s ups and downs. The song’s original drummer, Chuck Comeau, laid down solid, driving beats that are great for students learning to control dynamics and keep steady tempo.
Camden’s timing, fills, and confidence behind the kit really shine in this performance. You can watch it here and check out his other recordings:See all of Camden’s performances
Aiden Takes on “Toxicity” by System of a Down
Not to be outdone, Aiden stepped up to tackle one of the most explosive songs of the early 2000s—“Toxicity” by System of a Down. Released in 2001, the song became an instant hit and remains one of the band’s most iconic tracks. Its complexity lies in the fast tempo changes, unique time signatures, and intense energy delivered by John Dolmayan, the band’s powerhouse drummer known for his aggressive and technical playing.
Aiden’s performance is a testament to how far he’s come as a drummer. His ability to handle the unpredictable rhythms of this song shows real growth and dedication.
