Student Drum Performances Shine in Tooele County Studio

At Josh Kastleman Drum Lessons, students aren’t just learning how to play the drums—they’re becoming confident, well-rounded musicians through real performances, personalized instruction, and studio recording experiences. This summer, several standout students recorded songs that showcase both their musical growth and the strength of the program offered right here in Tooele County, Utah.

Caden – “Dance, Dance” by Fall Out Boy

Caden returned to the studio with a punchy and energetic cover of Dance, Dance by Fall Out Boy. Originally performed by drummer Andy Hurley, this 2005 track is known for its quick snare hits and driving rhythms. Caden’s performance highlights his growing speed and endurance on the kit.

Elias – “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons

Elias brought precision and enthusiasm to It’s Time, Imagine Dragons’ breakout 2012 hit. The song’s original drummer, Daniel Platzman, crafted a rhythm built on floor toms and uplifting dynamics—perfect for students developing steady timing and showmanship.

George – “Hotel California” by The Eagles

George tackled one of the most iconic rock songs of all time: Hotel California by the Eagles. The track’s original drummer, Don Henley, balanced tasteful fills with a relaxed groove that’s surprisingly challenging to master. George’s performance showed control, maturity, and musical sensitivity.

Isaac – “Come As You Are” by Nirvana

Isaac laid down a powerful take on Come As You Are, one of Nirvana’s most well-known grunge anthems. Dave Grohl’s original part features hypnotic tom patterns and ghost notes, and Isaac delivered with clarity and feeling—another sign of his increasing confidence behind the kit.

Kye – “My Own Prison” by Creed

Kye brought emotion and grit to his rendition of My Own Prison by Creed. Scott Phillips’ original drums offer a blend of rock drive and dynamic range, and Kye rose to the challenge with strong control and a deep understanding of the song’s structure.

Sage – “Undone (The Sweater Song)” by Weezer

Sage returned to the studio to perform Undone by Weezer—a track defined by its steady groove and subtle changes in intensity. Patrick Wilson’s original drumming calls for consistency and nuance, both of which Sage demonstrated impressively.

Why Students Succeed at Josh Kastleman Drum Lessons
