The studio has been buzzing with energy as several of our Tooele County drum students recently recorded incredible performances of some rock favorites! Each student chose a song that matched their skill level and musical taste, showcasing their hard work, progress, and passion for drumming at Josh Kastleman Drum Lessons.
Kohler – “Move Along” by The All-American Rejects
Kohler delivered an energetic performance of “Move Along” — one of The All-American Rejects’ biggest hits from 2005. The original track, powered by drummer Chris Gaylor, is known for its tight grooves and emotional drive. Kohler captured that same power and precision, keeping the momentum steady from start to finish. This song is an excellent challenge for drummers working on tempo consistency and endurance, and Kohler made it look easy!

Edward – “Hard to Handle” by The Black Crowes
Edward brought some classic rock swagger to the studio with his version of “Hard to Handle” by The Black Crowes. Originally a 1968 Otis Redding song, the Crowes’ 1990 rendition features Steve Gorman on drums — a player known for his deep pocket and blues-rock power. Edward nailed the song’s solid backbeat and gritty feel, showing off how much confidence and control he’s gained behind the kit.

Ryker – “No One Knows” by Queens of the Stone Age
Ryker took on one of the most iconic rock drum tracks of the 2000s — “No One Knows” by Queens of the Stone Age. The original features Dave Grohl on drums, delivering some of his most powerful and dynamic work. This song’s mix of heavy grooves and explosive fills demands focus and stamina, and Ryker rose to the challenge. His performance captured both the precision and raw energy that make Grohl’s drumming legendary.

Sage – “Chlorine” by Twenty One Pilots
Sage brought a modern and creative twist to his drumming with “Chlorine” by Twenty One Pilots. The song’s original drummer, Josh Dun, blends live and electronic rhythms seamlessly — a hallmark of his unique style. Sage demonstrated great control, timing, and finesse while recreating the song’s layered groove and dynamic feel. His performance shows how modern drummers can mix precision with musicality.

Aiden – “Move Along” by The All-American Rejects
Aiden also took on “Move Along” — showing his own take on the All-American Rejects classic. His performance was full of energy and confidence, highlighting how much progress he’s made in the studio. Like Kohler, Aiden captured the punchy snare work and driving beat that make this song a drumming favorite.
