What Do I Get with Drum Lesson?

Updated: 4 days ago

With our drum lessons you have a unique, one of a kind opportunity. No other drum teacher or program offers what we have! If your wanting to really shine and give your child opportunities to perform, have support, be rewarded, and feel accomplished, than these are the drum lessons for you! Here is what you get with lessons.

30 Minute Studio Lessons Each Week

Student lessons will be one-on-one with the teacher (Josh) who will be fully dedicated to the individual learning of that student for 30 minutes each week. These lessons usually consist of playing to the song the student is currently learning and and going over parts that the student can't yet play. Students will also go over what they have been learning in Drums In Color method books and mark off what they have accomplished. Students will recieve their rewards such as stickers, posters, and canvases of their favorite bands by completing songs and chapters in the book. If a student is ready they can also record their song performances during each lesson.

Student Record in Studio

Lessons usually consist of playing to the song and reviewing parts that the student can't yet play. Once a student has mastered the song with minimal mistakes the they will have the opportunity during their lesson to record themselves playing the song! With high tech studio set up, these recordings are quick and only take about 10 minutes. The song will then be published to the students playlist and webpage, making it available to show off to the world!

Teacher Available for Student All Week

With our premium drum lesson package students don't only get help from the teacher during their 30 minute lessons, but now they can get help in-between lessons by using video chat (Marco Polo) whenever they need it. Every morning during the work week Josh will review students videos they send him and respond within 24 hours. This allows students to progress all week long rather then waiting until their in-studio lesson to find out that they practiced something wrong the whole week. This is something that is not normally offered from music teachers and is a huge perk for joining the lesson program.

Student Personal Webpage & YouTube Playlist

Students will get their own personal progress webpage. Here is an example.

This page is customized to the student with their name, song count, method book count, recital badges, reward points and their video library. This is a great way for parents to keep updated on their students progress and show off their talents to others.

Student YouTube Playlists

Students will also get a personal YouTube playlist. This playlist will be under the drum lessons channel. Here is an example. This playlist is the students own, and host only their videos. This is great for sharing and showing off your talents to the world. Many students have used this in order to get into talent shows, submit for entry into programs, or even gain scholarships. It also serves as a great archive to look back and remember everything your student has accomplished.

Access to Drums In Color Tutorials

During lessons students will go over the Drums In Color method book. Students will have access to online help through video tutorials on the drumsincolor.com website, which is free for each one of Josh's students. This will allow students to use the QR codes in the book and access video tutorials for each exercise. This ensures that students always have the help they need during practice at home.

Live Recitals Every 6 Months

As part of lessons students have the opportunity to perform semi-annually. This will be at a local venue. Students perform the song of their choosing live on stage with lights and music. These performances usually happen before summer break, and Thanksgiving. Students will receive a sticker for their performance. These live sessions will also be recorded just like the studio recordings and will go up on the students webpage and YouTube playlist.

Here is an example of a recording of a recital performance

Reward Points for Students

Josh is a firm believer in rewarding his students and it has proven to be successfull in how quickly students progress. For every song or method book chapter a student learns they are rewarded points. These points can be used to buy their favorite band posters and canvases which Josh has available and accessable in the studio. Students love feeling accomplished, earning points, and getting band swag to hang on their walls.

Annual Professional Drum Photo Shoot

Once a year students have the opportunity to get a professional photo shoot done as a drummer. This will be an in-studio session apart from drum lessons. These will have smoke, water, colored chalk, and more, making each student look like the drumming pros they are! This is something that especially parents love, and believe it or not many students love also! However, it is optional and student are not required to do it if they do not want to.
