Edward Performs “Working Man” by Rush Live | Grantsville Utah Drum Recital
Edward performed “Working Man” by Rush live during a student drum recital in Grantsville, Utah in front of friends and family. This classic hard rock song gave Edward the opportunity to demonstrate strong timing, endurance, groove control, and live performance confidence while tackling one of Rush’s early fan favorites. Originally released in 1974 on Rush’s self-titled debut album Rush, “Working Man” became one of the songs that helped launch the band’s career in North America. The song gained popularity after receiving heavy airplay from radio stations in the United States and quickly became a staple of classic rock radio. Known for its blues-influenced hard rock riffs and extended instrumental sections, “Working Man” remains one of Rush’s most recognizable early songs. The original drummer on the recording was John Rutsey, Rush’s founding drummer before the arrival of Neil Peart later in the band’s career. John Rutsey’s straightforward and energetic rock drumming helped shape Rush’s early sound and laid the foundation for the band’s future success. Songs like “Working Man” are excellent for drum students because they help develop stamina, groove consistency, rock fills, timing, and the ability to lock in with powerful guitar-driven music.
