Our drum students in Tooele County, Utah, continue to impress with their dedication, skill, and love of music. At Josh Kastleman Drum Lessons, students don’t just practice—they get the chance to record their songs in a professional studio environment. These recordings give students real-world experience, build confidence, and highlight the benefits of lessons using the Drums In Color system.

Aiden – “Fat Lip” by Sum 41

Aiden tackled the pop-punk classic “Fat Lip” by Sum 41 in the studio. Released in 2001 on the album All Killer No Filler, the original track features the drumming of Steve Jocz, whose aggressive yet precise style blends punk rock and hip-hop influences. Carter – “Life Is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts

Carter recorded “Life Is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts, a fun, driving track originally written by Tom Cochrane and popularized by Rascal Flatts in 2006 for the movie Cars. The original drummer, Jim Riley, is known for blending country, rock, and pop drumming styles. Carter’s performance demonstrates groove, timing, and strong musical feel. Derrick – “Heart-Shaped Box” by Nirvana

Elias – “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor

Elias recorded the motivational rock anthem “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor. Released in 1982 and famously featured in Rocky III, the original drummer Marc Droubay created the song’s iconic driving feel. Elias’s studio take showcases solid groove, endurance, and timing. See his performances here.


Jupiter – “Legends Are Made” by Sam Tinnesz

Kohler – “Hero” by Foo Fighters

Marcus – “Of Wolf and Man” by Metallica

Marcus recorded “Of Wolf and Man” by Metallica, a track from the legendary Black Album (1991). The original drummer, Lars Ulrich, is known for his aggressive energy and strong song structure.
