Student Drum Performances in Tooele County: Camden, Griffin, Kohler, and Marcus Record New Songs in the Studio

Another exciting round of studio recordings recently took place during drum lessons, with four students performing songs from some well-known rock and alternative artists. Camden, Griffin, Kohler, and Marcus each recorded a different track, showing the wide range of music students learn while developing their skills behind the drum set.

Recording songs in the studio is an important part of the learning process. It gives students a clear goal to work toward, helps them build confidence performing full songs, and allows them to track their progress over time as they continue learning new music.

Camden Performs “Fat Lip” by Sum 41

Camden recorded the energetic pop-punk hit “Fat Lip,” originally released in 2001 on the album All Killer No Filler. The song quickly became the band’s breakthrough hit and reached number one on the Billboard Modern Rock chart.

The original drum track was played by Steve Jocz, whose fast and aggressive style helped define the sound of early 2000s pop-punk. Songs like this challenge students to maintain strong timing and energy throughout the entire performance.

Learning Songs Faster with Drums In Color

Drums In Color Book 2

Many students also use the Drums In Color system, a unique learning method that makes it easier to start playing songs quickly.

Drums In Color uses sheet music that matches colored rings placed on the drum set. Students simply match the colors on the page to the drums and cymbals in front of them. This visual approach helps beginners start playing real songs faster while still learning important rhythm and coordination skills.
