Students at Josh Kastleman Drum Lessons have been busy recording another round of songs in the studio, continuing to build confidence, timing, coordination, and real-world performance experience through song-based learning. Students throughout Tooele County Utah are learning to play music they genuinely enjoy while developing important drumming skills that carry over into every aspect of musicianship.
This latest group of recordings featured a wide variety of rock styles and drumming techniques from some of the most influential bands of the last several decades.
Caden recorded “Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits, a song originally released in 1978 featuring tasteful groove-oriented drumming by Pick Withers. The song challenges drummers to focus on timing, dynamics, and consistency while supporting the feel of the music without overplaying.https://www.joshkastlemandrumlessons.com/caden

Featuring emotional and dynamic drumming by Tré Cool, the song helps students work on musical expression, transitions, and control behind the drums.https://www.joshkastlemandrumlessons.com/elias
Helton recorded “Say It Ain’t So” by Weezer, a classic from the band’s legendary Blue Album. One of the things that makes Josh Kastleman Drum Lessons unique is the opportunity for students to regularly record songs in the studio and perform at recitals. These experiences help students build confidence, develop stage presence, and stay motivated as they continue progressing through new songs and challenges. Students also stay motivated by earning swag like band stickers, posters, and canvases.
Students also learn using the Drums In Color system, which uses color-guided notation to help drummers learn beats, fills, and full songs faster and more easily. The system is especially effective for visual learners, younger students, and beginners who want a more engaging and less frustrating way to learn drums.
Josh Kastleman Drum Lessons teaches students throughout Tooele County, including Tooele, Stansbury Park, Grantsville, and surrounding Utah areas. Lessons are personalized for each student and focus on helping drummers learn real songs while building technique, confidence, and long-term interest in music.
