Derek brought gritty energy and solid groove to his performance of “In Bloom” by Nirvana during our student drum recital on November 8, 2025, in Grantsville, Utah. The original drum track, played by Dave Grohl, is one of the most recognizable drum parts of the grunge era. Grohl’s explosive fills, heavy snare accents, and driving groove helped shape Nirvana’s signature sound and made “In Bloom” a standout track on their landmark album Nevermind. It’s an excellent song for drummers learning power, timing, and dynamic contrast. Our drum program gives every student the opportunity to perform live in front of friends and family every six months, building confidence and real stage experience.
